Checking the fashion about “Ramenman”(#20)

“Ramenman” has not only the Manchu queue , but actually wears costumes derived from the Qing dynasty like mandarin dress(Cheongsam) .
The costumes is mainly treated as a formal in modern China.
Is men’s costume the same as?
After the Qing dynasty, there is “Changshan” (Cheongsam for men) and “Tangzhuang”, and after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Mao-suits too.

“Tangzhuang”

About Ramenman costume

Ramenman’s costumes are Tangzhuang before becoming a superhuman (during training), and after superhuman, a two-piece type of Changshan (jacket and pants) is shown.

Quote: From the first episode of “Tatakae!!Ramenman” ︎

Since the 2-piece type does not have slits, there remains a suspicion that it is difficult to move, contrary to its dressy appearance.

On the other hand, when fighting for the Kinnikuman throne, the type he is wearing expresses the elegance of the modern Chinese dress along the body line, and also has elasticity and functionality like jersey material or compression wear.
It looks like there is.

By the way, the major features of the modern Cheongsam are the following three points.

  1. Standing collar
  2. Large collar (diagonally open collar)
  3. Slit (cut in the skirt [the detail of female style])
The printing is that women worn Cheongsam

So after becaming superhuman, his costume was added to 1 and 2 details.

Influence of “Jiangshi”?

In the “Tatakae!! Ramenman” of the first episode, a girl named Menma appears.

“Menma”

She also had the characteristic of Qing dynasty.
Her hairstyle is called “Liangbatou”, with her hair rounded to the left and right of her.

The picture is Manchu ladies wearing qipao and having her hair trimmed with buns

It is said that there are 56 ethnic groups in modern China, and 55 are ethnic minorities.
And even now and in the past, the Han Chinese occupy an overwhelming number of people in china.
However, when expressing China in Japan, the stereotype often appears, that derived from the Qing dynasty.

Why?

It is because there was not enough information to associate with China as it is now, and when associated with China, inspired by the works from Hong Kong and Taiwan.
In particular, the big hit of “Mr. Vampire” released in 1985 (1986 in Japan) and the following Taiwanese version of “Hello Dracula” had been gaven a great influence.

For example : Characters that seem to have been influenced

Introducing the characters that seem to have actually been influenced

① “Drangon Ball”: Jiaozi

② The second generation character of “Baby Star Ramen”: Bay-chan and Bee-chan

※They are characters in Oyatsu-company Ltd, that is a japan food company.

③ Street Fighter II: Chun-Li

④ “Ranma 1/2”: Shampoo

Actually, there are many others, so this is an excerpt.

1980s, and…

All have been conceived and posted since the late 1980s and the early 1990s.

During the Cultural Revolution in China from the late 1960s to the 1970s, many men and women wore mao suits.
After that, the direction was changed to the reform and open route, but before that, it was the era of World War II such as the Sino-Japanese War, and in Japan of the 1980s had no items that well expressed the past of China yet.

In addition, the Han Chinese folk costume “Hanfu” is origin of Korean “Chima jeogori” and Japanese “kimono“.
So to speak, they are similar and like brothers.
Therefore, it may be that the Qing’s(Manchu) costume was more impressive in order to make a difference easily with eye catching.
The present, strangely, various Japanese manga have been evaluated overseas, and keeping the strangeness, time has passed ongoing.
So, more no boarder for information, more the “strangeness” is fostering “strangeness” day by day.
But it is interesting to enjoy the timeliness.
Just as the taste of works of art changes for people with age, getting stimulation and convincing old works have different ways of enjoying them.
